A Guernsey driver, who was involved in a crash after he fell unconscious at the wheel, has died days later.

Keith Queripel, 52, better known to many as Kingpin, was involved in an accident at 0500 BST on Thursday in Amherst Road as he was driving to work.

He has spent the past few days in the Intensive Care Unit at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

In a statement his family said he suffered a severe brain haemorrhage and a heart attack before the accident.

They said: "As a family we take solace in the fact that Keith would not have known much about the accident and also more importantly that no other persons or vehicles were involved.

"We thank all of those who cared for Keith in the last days of his life, especially those in the Intensive Care Unit of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital for the dedication to duty."
