Guernsey Health Department members elected

Shane Langlois and Mike Hadley have taken the two empty seats on Guernsey's Health and Social Services Department.

It follows the resignation of Deputies Barry Brehaut and Andrew Le Lievre after the May Meeting of the States.

During that meeting the department's board, with the exception of its minister, refused to support a document it had previously signed up to.

Deputy Langlois polled 31 votes, Deputy Hadley 28 votes and the only other candidate Deputy Al Brouard 21 votes.

Deputy Hadley had previously served in the department but stood down in November 2008 after being criticised for speaking out to the media.

The pair will join Minister Hunter Adam and Deputies Peter Gillson and Mary Lowe on the board.
