New cancer course is developed for Guernsey's survivors

A new course has been developed for survivors of cancer in Guernsey.

The six-week programme aims to give guidance and support to people who have lived through the illness.

It was devised by the island's Health Promotion Unit and Cancer Services, together with Macmillian Cancer Support, and will begin on 25 October.

Pat Child, one of the course's tutors, said lots of people came to the end of their cancer treatment without knowing what to do next.

She added: "It is a great way to access support, especially as more and more people are now surviving and living beyond cancer."

The course will be led by trained tutors who have themselves lived through cancer.
