Islanders holiday away from eurozone

Many islanders planning holidays are avoiding the eurozone, according to the chairman of the Guernsey Travel Agents Association.

Jamie Blondel, of Wayfarers Travel, said there had been a steady flow of customers making inquiries and bookings for holidays in 2012.

He said the main consideration seemed to be avoiding countries in the eurozone, because of the exchange rate.

Mr Blondel said islanders were also keen on finding guaranteed sunshine.
