A special boat has been put on to allow some residents of Herm to get to the polling station for the election of the States of Guernsey.

Due to bad weather the Herm Trident has cancelled all but one trip.

The island is home to 17 voters and the majority have signed up for postal voting, but the remainder will travel across to Guernsey to vote.

Electors on Herm are eligible to vote for up to six candidates in the St Peter Port South district.

Herm director Simon George said it was typical of the weather to take a turn for the worse as soon as the island opened for the season.
