Guernsey Election 2012: Two recounts called

Two recounts will take place following requests from candidates in Wednesday's Guernsey deputies election.

The recounts have been called by candidates who finished just out of the elected places.

James Symons was 42 votes behind the successful candidates in the Vale and Rhoderick Matthews was just three short in St Peter Port North.

The counts are due to take place at the St James Assembly Hall on Friday with results expected by about 17:00 BST.

The 45 deputies who sit in the island's government are decided by voting in seven separate districts and the successful candidates are due to begin their term in the States on 1 May.
