Guernsey court gives 12-year sentence in child abuse case

A man has been sentenced to 12 years in jail by Guernsey's Royal Court for 10 counts of historic sexual child abuse.

Alasdair Robert Garven, 65, from Bath in Somerset, was arrested in Guernsey in October 2011.

The charges in his case related to incidents involving four girls, aged between four and nine, which took place between 1970 and 1977.

Garven, who lived in Guernsey until 1976, was found guilty of the charges in the island's court in April.
