An inquest in Guernsey in to the death of the Latvian woman Liga Verse has recorded a verdict of suicide.

Miss Verse's body was found in a flat in the Bordage, St Peter Port, on 20 August 2011. The 24-year-old had lived in the island for several years.

The inquest heard the delay in reaching a verdict had come in part from complications in laying her to rest.

The judge ordered her body be released before expressing sympathy to Miss Verse's friends and family.

Police had originally treated the death as suspicious and a man was arrested at the time, though later released on bail.
