Body washed ashore in France confirmed as Rene Morvan

A body which was washed ashore on the Normandy coast has been confirmed to be that of a missing French yachtsman.

Rene Morvan was reported lost from the Jouvente off Guernsey's Hanois reef on 12 May. Three other men on board were arrested and released without charge.

Guernsey Police said French authorities had now identified the body.

The States pathologist travelled to France on Tuesday and observed the post mortem examination undertaken by a French forensic pathologist.

Both Guernsey and French police are conducting investigations into the 63-year-old's death.

Guernsey Police said "complex decisions with respect to legal jurisdiction" were "still on-going".
