Guernsey States staff redundancy plans 'will save money'

Guernsey States' voluntary severance package will save money, the environment minister says.

Government employees on permanent contracts can claim five weeks pay for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 20 years, as part of the redundancy programme.

Minister Roger Domaille said it would save money because it allowed "a better and quicker way of restructuring".

Staff are able to apply for redundancy until 30 September.
