Guernsey Post parcel growth 'driven by internet'

A surge in parcel post has helped Guernsey Post record a £1.1m profit for the past financial year, officials at the firm say.

Boley Smillie, chief executive, said investments had increased revenue, but parcel deliveries of internet goods were the main source.

He said: "[It] Seems to be a trend that will continue for some time."

The company, which is owned by the States of Guernsey, will pay the government a dividend of £750,000.
