All Isle of Man schools were closed on Monday after heavy overnight snowfall led to dangerous driving conditions and the closure of several roads.

Public transport was also affected, with all bus services suspended and Ronaldsway Airport closed until 1230 GMT.

Education chiefs said they reluctantly made the decision to close the schools on Sunday evening.

All schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday morning.

However, if weather conditions deteriorate overnight, an announcement will be made at 0700 GMT.

Roads closed

There may be some disruption to Bus Vannan services, the Department for Education has advised.

Students at the Isle of Man College and King William's College also had the day off on Monday.

All bus services were also suspended but many have resumed with limited services, apart from in the Ballabeg and Colby where no buses are running.

Roads on higher ground had to be closed due to the snow.

There was also disruption to some hospital clinic appointments.
