A road drainage improvement scheme for Douglas has been delayed due to concerns from a supermarket.

The Victoria Road project will now not take place until later in the year.

Supermarket managers thought the work would cause too much disruption during a busy trading period.

MHK Graham Cregeen said officers from the department of infrastructure had not consulted properly with the supermarket before putting forward the road work proposals.

It is thought the delay will give all concerned the chance to prepare for disruption later in the year.
