Preparations are under way for the Isle of Man's third open-air summer music festival, Mannifest.

The popular Mannifest festival will take place on 6, 7 and 8 August at Glen Lough Camp site.

Thousands of music fans attended the three-day event last year, which was held at Glen Lough for the first time.

Mannifest hit the headlines last year with the help of some creative chainsaw work from local tree sugeon Nick Barlow.

Mr Barlow created a huge wooden wizard which was displayed at the 2010 event.

Home-grown festival

This year organisers are hailing Mannifest as a 'home-grown' event which prides itself on bringing local bands together with some of the finest new talent from the United Kingdom.

This year's line-up includes Dizraeli and the Small Gods, Joe Driscoll, Yes Sir Boss, Tin Roots, Sheelanagig, Wallis Bird, Frank Turner and The Baghdaddies.

The 2011 event will see experienced festival organisers Chai Wallahs taking an active role in the organisation. They are regulars on the UK festival circuit, at both Glastonbury and Green Man.

As usual many periferal activities are planned including activities for children and various holistic events, all to be held in the open air of a Manx summer.

More information and ticket bookings are available on the Mannifest website.
