Island school runs second series of parenting classes

An Isle of Man school is set to run a second series of parenting classes after the success of an initial scheme, say organisers.

The course based at Ramsey Grammar School aims to help parents and carers in child development and behaviour management in the home.

The second course is expected to run from 11 January 2012 for 10 weeks.

Facilitator Cathy Holland said the course was not designed to tell parents what to do with their children.

She said: "The group is quite informal and we are there to facilitate the exploration of children and their developmental needs in a bid to promote a deeper understanding of them and an alternative way of thinking around them."

More information about the parenting classes is available from the department of education or Ramsey Grammar School.
