Isle of Man cadets to get award at Buckingham Palace

Two Isle of Man teenagers are to be recognised by Princess Anne for their work with the St John Ambulance charity.

Louise Coase and Philip Morrison, both 16, will receive the Cadets' highest accolade, the Grand Prior Award.

The pair, who are members of the Onchan group, have been chosen for contribution and commitment.

They will be presented with their awards by the Princess Royal during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Head of Youth for the charity Wendy Human said Philip and Louise had both worked hard and shown dedication.

It marks at least three years of sustained effort studying 24 different subjects, including working in the community, outdoor pursuits and first aid.

"As a cadet, you learn vital life-saving skills that can come in handy," said Philip.

Louise added: "The best part of belonging to St John Ambulance is being able to take part in competitions, learning valuable life skills as well as first aid skills and meeting new people every week."
