Horse hit by classic car on Isle of Man is put down

A horse has been put down after being hit by a classic car in the north of the Isle of Man.

Both animal and rider were knocked to the ground in the incident which happened at 15:45 BST on Tuesday.

Police said the collision, which happened on the coast road between Jurby and Bride, had also involved a classic Bentley car.

Both rider and driver were unhurt but the animal sustained serious injuries and was destroyed at the scene.

It is understood the horse and rider were a part of a group of four.

Sgt Andy Kneen said: "This was a very distressing incident for all involved.

"I would ask that anyone who either witnessed the collision, or who saw either the Bentley car or the group of horses in the moments prior to the collision, to contact the police at Ramsey Police Station".
