Isle of Man funding for African states hits £100K

The Isle of Man has donated £100,000 to an international charity dealing with aid projects in Zimbabwe and the Central African Republic (CAR).

The International Development Committee said grants had been given to Oxfam.

The charity is currently working in the CAR, supporting an estimated 1.3m people in need of food and shelter.

Oxfam GB also has a presence in Zimbabwe where a state of national disaster was declared in February after severe flooding in one province.

Chairman of the International Development Committee, Phil Gawne said their funding continued to "make a genuine difference to people's lives".

"These latest awards represent a small but much-needed contribution to Oxfam GB's response to the emergencies."
