Education focus in Isle of Man literary festival

Authors and poets are on a tour of schools around the Isle of Man as part of its 2014 literary festival.

The five-day Manx Litfest event will run until 28 September.

Organisers said Friday's school tour will involve eleven writers visiting eighteen of the island's schools.

Festival Director, John Quirk said the initiative aims to "set fire to children's imaginations and inspire them to read and write".

Some of those involved in the tour include Philip Reeve, author of Mortal Engines; illustrator and writer Sarah McIntyre and author/journalist Donald S Murray.

More information about the Manx Litfest is available online.
