Heavy overnight rain has resulted in localised flooding closing several roads in the Isle of Man.

Police said the north and west of the island have been hardest hit. The Sulby river burst its banks resulting in damage to the road surface and bridge.

There is standing water on some roads and police have urged motorists to "drive with care".

Highways teams worked through the night to keep other roads open. The closures will be reviewed later.

In Kirk Michael, roads to the beach at Glen Wyllin campsite, Glen Mooar and Balleira Road remain closed, police said.

The road from the Sulby Claddaghs to the Bungalow also remains closed.

According to police flooding has also been reported in Kirk Michael, Glen Helen, Ramsey, Foxdale and Peel.

All road closures are listed on the Isle of Man constabulary's Facebook page.
