Alexis French death: Crash driver charged with killing daughter

An Isle of Man motorist has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of his 10-year-old daughter.

Raymond French, 45, from Ballaugh, was driving his BMW car when it collided with a bus near Castletown in October 2013, killing his daughter Alexis.

Mr French is also charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

No pleas were entered and he was bailed to appear at Douglas courthouse on 16 December.

Alexis French, a year six student from Ballaugh Primary School, died from head injuries in the collision, an inquest was told.

Mr French and Alexis's younger brother were both critically injured following the crash and taken to hospitals in the UK.

His wife was also taken to hospital along with six people from the bus which had been travelling towards Port Erin.
