A cat which fell 20m (65ft) down a 75mm (3in) cavity between two buildings was rescued by Jersey Fire and Rescue Service on Wednesday.

A spokesman for Jersey Fire and Rescue said after trying all their normal methods they had to resort to drilling a hole inside one of the buildings.

They said this meant exact measurements had to be used to avoid injury.

The cat was successfully reunited with his owner, who said he was sure his pet had used up one of his nine lives.
