Jersey States approves Rosewood House upgrade cash

Money to refurbish a hospital ward for dementia patients in Jersey has been approved by the States.

The £2m project at Rosewood House in St Helier will include modernising the building and upgrading infection control.

Part of the funding will provide additional nursing staff to provide care across two sites while the work is carried out.

Patients will be cared for at Overdale's McKinstry Ward.

Mental Health Service Manager Ian Dyer said: "The Rosewood House scheme has been identified as needing updating for some years.

"The unit will be fitted with modern fire safety measures and improvements to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infection."

He said both patients' comfort and staff working conditions would be improved by the renovations.
