A Polish motorcyclist has been killed and another man critically hurt in a crash in Jersey.

Police said the accident happened at about 1600 BST on Sunday on Route des Cote du Nord in Trinity and involved a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Smart car.

The motorcyclist has been named as 30-year-old Rafal Maolodzinski. A 23-year-old pillion passenger is in hospital in a critical condition.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

A police spokeswoman said initial inquiries suggested that neither the rider or the pillion passenger were wearing helmets or protective clothing.

The occupants of the car were shocked, but unhurt.

Mr Maolodzinski was living and working in Jersey, police have confirmed.
