Jersey politician wants St Helier car park saved

A Jersey politician is calling for a threatened car park to be retained.

The master plan for St Helier has earmarked the area of Minden Place to become a "small public square."

In the plan, the site would have a number of buildings with residential units on the upper floors and shops and restaurants on the lower floor.

But Deputy Andrew Green said the nearby market and shops would suffer a loss in trade because customers would be forced to park elsewhere.

Deputy Green said he wanted the plan to be amended so that the Minden Place car park was kept and repaired if needed.
