Jersey road crash kills driver and injures children

A 10-year-old boy injured in a road crash in Jersey at the weekend has been transferred to the UK for treatment.

He was one of five people in a Daihatsu Charade when it crashed at Haut Croix on Sunday. He is in a stable condition in Southampton Hospital, police said.

Three other people in the vehicle are still being treated in Southampton.

A 22-year-old woman remains in a critical condition. An eight-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy are both in a stable condition.

The 34-year-old car driver, Maria Sousa Pestana, died in hospital in Jersey as a result of her injuries in the crash at about 1445 BST on Sunday.
