People in Jersey have been leaving flowers and cards at the scene of a car crash in which one woman died.

Maria Sousa Pestana, 34, died in hospital on Sunday after the Daihatsu Charade car she was driving crashed at Haut Croix at about 1445 BST.

Two boys aged ten and 12, and an eight-year-old girl were transferred to Southampton Hospital for treatment, and are said to be in a stable condition.

A 22-year-old woman also remains in a critical condition at the hospital.

'Potential witness'

Police have launched an appeal to find a female driver who may have seen the accident.

Officers want to speak to the potential witness who was driving a Range Rover and pulling a silver-coloured horsebox at the time of the crash.

She was wearing sunglasses and driving from the Hautes Croix direction towards Les Platons.

Officers said the woman was being sought "solely as a potential witness".

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
