Jersey parish hall completed but comes in over budget

Renovation work on a parish hall in Jersey has been completed but has gone about £50,000 over budget.

The refurbishment of the hall in St John's took a year to complete and cost just under £750,000.

The hall now has a boardroom, new kitchen and toilet facilities for members of the community to use.

Constable Graham Butcher said that the overspend was unavoidable but that the parish's rates would not increase as a result.
