A car stolen in Jersey was abandoned and set alight on Sunday evening.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said a crew was called to tackle the fire in Westmount Road, St Helier, at about 1930 BST.

The green Fiat Punto was destroyed, but no-one was hurt.

A fire service spokesman said the incident follows a trend of car fires over the past few weeks. Police are investigating and have appealed for witnesses.

Crew commander Jason Betts said the stolen car was abandoned in the bowling green car park in Westmount Road.
