Jersey and Guernsey governments working together

Guernsey's and Jersey's governments are making more pan-island decisions.

Regular meetings between the island's governments have been taking place to see how the bailiwicks can work more effectively together.

Guernsey's commerce and employment department and Jersey's economic development department discussed a range of common issues.

They included tourism marketing, sea links, financial services and competition and regulation.

The departments say they have already made significant progress on a joint consultation on the setting up of a financial ombudsman.

Senator Alan Maclean, Jersey's economic development minister, said he was sure greater co-operation would mean more efficient services for the benefit of the Channel Islands as a whole.
