Jersey Christmas trees vandalised and stolen

One Christmas tree has been vandalised and a second stolen in Jersey.

A 6ft tall (1.8m) tree at Grouville parish hall was damaged and one on Victoria Pier has disappeared.

In Grouville, Constable Dan Murphy, said he was trying to track down whoever damaged the parish tree and took away some of the lights.

He said: "We're very annoyed about it because it is a marker in the parish and it is a very nice tree."

One of the Christmas trees at the Fresh Fish Company on Victoria Pier in Jersey has disappeared.

William Jackson, from the firm, thinks someone has stolen it, using heavy duty wire cutters.

States of Jersey police said Christmas is a celebration for most people but it was spoiled by some.

Ransom's Garden Centre in St Martin replaced the Christmas tree taken from the Fresh Fish Company as a gesture of goodwill.
