A woman thought to be one of the oldest residents in Jersey has died.

Vera Romano, who lived at the Little Sisters of the Poor residential home in St Helier, was 107-years-old when she died at the weekend.

The Reverend Geoff Houghton from Trinity Church said he visited her once a month and she was a delightful person.

He said: "For someone of such a fantastic age she was interesting and interested in the world around her."
