Seized drug trafficking proceeds on Jersey fell in 2009

Figures for the sums of money confiscated under Jersey's drug trafficking laws show a fall in 2009.

The States of Jersey said that in 2008 the figure was nearly £188,000 but fell to less than £27,000 by December 2009.

Money from the Drug Trafficking Confiscations Fund must be used to prevent criminal conduct or deal with its consequences.

Senator Francis le Gresley said it should fund an investigation into the island's historic child abuse inquiry.
