Jersey ministers to make Israel trade trip

Ministers from Jersey will be heading to Israel to promote the island for trade and investment.

Minister for Economic Development Senator Alan Maclean and Foreign Minister Senator Freddie Cohen will head to Israel at the end of May.

The politicians hope to promote Jersey as a base for Israeli businesses expanding within Europe.

Wayne Gallichan, of Jersey Enterprise, said Israel was a powerful country in terms of business.

Mr Gallichan said: "It has strengths in financial services, renewable energy, environment, transport and also e-gaming."

Senator Maclean said: "While in Israel, we will be actively marketing Jersey to leading Israeli intermediaries and organisations, to encourage trade and facilitate inward investment.

"Our aim is to make it clear that Jersey is very much open for business with this important market."
