Jersey's warning over unlicensed drivers

Employers in Jersey are being warned to check their employees are correctly licensed to drive.

Alan Muir, the inspector of motor traffic said there had been a "recent flurry of unlicensed drivers" uncovered at road checks this year.

At the latest check in St Lawrence on 21 April, two drivers were found driving without a valid license.

The drivers and their respective employers, are to be prosecuted.

Mr Muir said: "I cannot over emphasise the importance, for employers and managers, to check that their employees are correctly licensed for the category of vehicle they are being employed to drive.

"It perhaps suggests that some employers are not keeping their staff records of drivers up to date and are therefore opening themselves up to prosecution."
