Jersey companies to get hearing support training

A new training programme has been started to help Jersey companies support staff and customers with hearing difficulties.

The training programmes was developed by the Jersey dDeaf Partnership Board in response to concerns from deaf people.

Some people reported difficulties communicating at work or in their social life.

Teachers will train employees to work with deaf people.

Organisations will be able to earn gold, silver or bronze awards depending on how many of their staff complete the training.

The organisers said companies which take part in the scheme can give confidence to any deaf or hard of hearing customers.
