Jersey homes are without power after heavy wind

Homes were without power in St Brelade after poles carrying power lines were brought down in the strong winds.

Jersey Electricity said about 20 homes were affected and its engineers were working hard to restore the main supply.

They said they expected most buildings would be reconnected by late in the afternoon.

Lucas Brothers farm wholesale shop was one of those affected and was getting power from a generator.

Owner Andrew Lucas said it was not the best start to a Monday morning.
