Dredgers to remove silt from St Aubin's Bay in Jersey

One of Jersey's bays is to be dredged later this year.

Contractors will remove six inches of silt from the sea bed at St Aubin's Bay.

The decision was taken after concerns that the build up of silt could affect the movement of bigger ships on the approaches to St Helier.

Port of Jersey harbour authorities said the silt raises the level of the sea bed over a period of years and has to be removed every decade.
