A new representative for Jersey's Polish community has been sworn in at the Royal Court.

Magdalena Chmielewska has become the island's Honorary Polish Consul.

The Polish Ambassador to the UK, Her Excellency Barbara Tuge-Erecińska, came to Jersey for the ceremony.

"With a community of more than 3,000 Polish people now resident in the island, it is important that we have our own consular representative," Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, said.

"I look forward to maintaining a positive dialogue with Ms Chmielewska and I wish her the best in her new role."
