Israel's technology firms invited to come to Jersey

Technology and internet shopping companies in Israel are being encouraged to come to Jersey.

Jersey's economic development minister led a delegation of Jersey firms on a trip to the middle eastern country.

They hope to encourage companies to bring their trade to Jersey.

Representatives from Jersey's e-commerce and telecoms sector have been visiting the Israel Institute of Technology and other companies.

Jersey telecommunications firm JT Global was among the delegation.

A spokesman from JT said Israel was "a hotbed for high tech innovators and developers of cutting-edge technology and services."

He said Israel spends about 5% of its gross domestic product (GDP) on research and development, and had become home to more than 60 multi-national companies including Microsoft, Cisco, Google, Apple and Motorola.
