Inquiry after girl at Jersey respite home hit by van

An investigation is under way after an autistic girl was hit by a van while in the care of a respite home in Jersey, police have confirmed.

Lily-Mae Chapman, seven, is recovering from her injuries after the incident on Monday.

Les Amis, which runs the Maison Allo respite home, said it was working with authorities to investigate.

Jersey Police and the Children's Service from Social Services are also examining what happened.

Shaun Findlay, from Les Amis, said: "We take any instance seriously and the safety of children that access the service is paramount.

"We are working with other agencies to investigate this incident and hopefully will have an outcome in the very near future."

States of Jersey Police said it could not comment on an ongoing investigation.
