Lieutenant governor launches Poppy Appeal in Jersey

Jersey's annual Poppy Appeal has been launched.

At the launch at the Cenotaph, the lieutenant governor, General Sir John McColl, paid tribute to the personnel of Bomber Command, who had a memorial unveiled to them in London in June.

He added that he hoped islanders would be generous when donating to the appeal, which helps injured services personnel and their families.

The 2011 appeal raised £185,000 for the Royal British Legion.
