No animals abandoned at Jersey shelter over Christmas

No animals were left at a Jersey animal shelter over the festive period.

JSPCA said it was the first time in six years that no pets were left with them over Christmas.

Chief executive Steve Coleman said that while Christmas had been a quiet time for the charity, 2012 had been a busy year.

He said about 1,000 animals had been left at the shelter during the year, many as a result of ongoing economic difficulties faced by residents.
