A person claiming to have been abused by Jimmy Savile in Guernsey has come forward.

Guernsey Police said the allegation related to the late presenter while he was in the island in the 1970s.

It has been passed on to the Metropolitan Police Service, which is coordinating Operation Yewtree.

The team is investigating claims Savile, who died last year aged 84, sexually abused as many as 300 young people over a 40-year period.

It is the seventh person to make a complaint about the radio and TV presenter in the Channel Islands, but the only one to have been lodged with Guernsey Police.

The other claims allegedly took place in Jersey.
