Home phone line price competition delayed

A move to lower home phone line prices by creating competition has been delayed, according to the regulator.

Andrew Riseley, from the Channel Islands Competition Regulatory Authority (CICRA), said some operators needed more time to prepare.

CICRA put out details of the move for competition in November but due to changes requested by operators it had to delay the introduction.

Graham Hughes from Cable & Wireless said he was disappointed by the delay.

Mr Riseley said after the initial consultation went out last year they had requests for changes that made the original 3 June deadline unfeasible.

Competition in the Channel Islands fixed line rental market will now be introduced from 7 November 2013.
