Jersey Methodist church sold for £400k

A Methodist church, which had to close because of safety fears, has been sold for more than £400,000.

The First Tower Bay Methodist Church in Jersey closed in 2013 and the congregation has merged with St Aubin's Methodist Church.

The majority of the money will help to fund lay workers who provide help, advice and run family groups in Jersey.

Reverend Graeme Halls said the money would "help make the project sustainable".

He said he thought the 170-year-old building would be converted into homes.

The lay workers - who are local people - have been paid by the church through voluntary donations.
