LTTE arousing communal violence - Govt.

LTTE aim to inflict maximum casulaties
Government is accusing the LTTE of masterminding a huge disaster by the bomb which killed 17 people including two policemen on Wednesday.

The plan, as described by the government spokesman Rohitha Bogallagama, was to bring down the entire roof of the market inflicitng maximum casualties.

"The final idea of directing attacks towards civilians is to have a backlash", the Minister Bogollagama told a news conference in Colombo.

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella who was associated with the news conference said that LTTE was trying to portray a picture before the international community that there are communal troubles in Sri Lanka.

The latest attack, he said, was aimed at dismantling the process of talks and the momentum of the building up of the confidence of both parties.

"The idea of directing violence against civilians is to provoke a backlash " he said.

A night curfew was lifted in the northeastern area just before midday Thursday.
