Wimal : notable absentee
JVP leader Somwansa Amarasinghe
'Who is responsible'?
JVP parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa has failed to show at the 37th April Heroes Commemoration held at Viharamaha Devi Open Air Theatre in Colombo.

There have been media reports that Weerawansa’s party membership has been suspended.

It has not been possible to get a response from Weerawansa to confirm or reject media speculation on his alleged suspension.

In his lengthy key note speech, party leader Somawansa Amarasinha mentioned that party secretary Tilvin Silva and parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayaka had gone abroad.

Amarasinghe, however, failed to explain the the absence of parliamentary group leader and propaganda secretary Weerawansas absence.

Disciplinary action

“The party will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who do not carry out responsibilities entrusted to them” said Somawansa Amarasinha.

Reportedly the audience gave a roaring round of applause as Amarasinha made this comment.

The party leader said that as he is confident of a JVP government coming into power in the near future and there is no need to be in a hurry to grab power

Commenting on the possibility of calling early parliamentary elections, Amarawansa challenged the ruling party.

“Come on Mr Rajapaksha we are ready” said the leader of the JVP , Somawansa Amarasinghe
