The Word 'Terrorist'

Armed IRA terrorist

Use of the word 'terrorist' has become a very controversial issue in the media.

The BBC World Service has constantly avoided using the word 'terrorist' to introduce an organisation or a group.

Rebel or insurgent are seen as more neutral terms.
