Cricket authorities in Zimbabwe have admitted that there has been an 'incident' involving a Sri Lanka cricketer while the team toured Zimbabwe for the triangular series in June.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) said it has been informed of an "alleged incident involving one of the Sri Lankan cricketers" in the hotel the team was staying following the Sri Lankan team's victory in the triangular series.
There have been media reports that a senior player in the Sri Lankan team has been arrested by the Zimbabwe police.
Shingai Rhuhwaya, Zimbabwe Cricket's Head of Media and Marketing told BBC Sandeshaya that, no charges were filed against any Sri Lankan player, in spite of the police inquiry.
"Upon further investigations by our security and legal affairs departments, we have been informed by the local police that no charges were ever laid by any complainant and no details of the incident were ever specified," he added.
Sri Lanka cricket authorities were also accused by the media of trying to cover up the incident.
Zimbabwe Cricket did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged incident.
"To the best of our knowledge, no player or team official was or has subsequently been charged with anything in relation to this incident," Mr. Rhuhwaya added.
